Traversal is smooth and seamless, with a single button press sending you floating across the world. Rei can skate across most surfaces (though not up buildings), grind on railings, climb on weird-looking ooze, and use energy blades to attack her enemies. Along the way, Rei will discover the fate of the other Voidwalkers, learn the truth about her mission, and have a chance to provide assistance to the few other beings remaining in the Ultravoid. To enable the Starseed to do the impossible, Rei needs to remove six anomalous energy signatures called Remnants so the device can calibrate properly. Her job is to activate a large obelisk called the Starseed that will stabilize the Ultravoid and render it incapable of consuming her home planet. You play as Rei, a Voidwalker who uses the power of God and anime magical space technology to skate into the gravity well, where the fragments of other consumed planets exist as ruins. Solar Ash takes place inside of a supermassive black hole called the Ultravoid. Solar Ash Review: Skating Across the Stars Its flaws are few, far overshadowed by the enjoyment out of everything else. In short, Solar Ash is a complete package, with stellar gameplay, a well-told story, and a realized world ripe for exploring. Side content adds additional flavor, bringing a more personal narrative to a tale with otherwise galactic repercussions. Taking out bosses is also the primary means of progressing the story, which won't win any awards but does have some fun twists and turns. The combat follows a similar pattern, with bosses and enemies requiring more precision, new strategies, or additional mobility techniques to properly conquer. Each new area forces you to rethink how you play without adding anything to the core suite of abilities. ![]() Rather than ever giving you the ability to alter or improve those core systems, Solar Ash instead asks you to use them in new and evolving ways. Solar Ash is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.Solar Ash plays like some of the greatest games of the past decade, namely Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. Also, definitely use timeslip to grapple to the hard-to-reach weak points. I recommend using your double jump sparingly as it will slow you down and usually make you miss your mark. The timed attacks on Burning Hunter get harder and harder like every other boss. Use your boost to dash left or right of his attacks so you don’t take even more damage. Once you’ve used the smokestack rail, Burning Hunter will automatically be close enough to grapple onto, especially if you use timeslip.Īnother thing to make note of is Burning Hunter, like Lost Sentry, will try to shoot you with voidshards as you make your way to the smokestacks. In order to get to Burning Hunter, you’ll need to use those. As the boss battle commences, it shows a big, yellow mushroom you’ve used before to skyrocket yourself up the smokestacks. The obvious difference in Burning Hunter is that it flies, so getting to it is a challenge in and of itself. You’ll definitely want to steer clear of the lava. And, similar to Rust Dagger, one of the hardest parts of The Luminous Peak Remnant battle is the stage. Similar to each boss before it, Burning Hunter offers just enough newness to feel fresh while not adding a completely new set of rules to remember. How to Defeat Burning Hunter in Solar Ash Other than that, Solar Ash is a 3D action-adventure platformer while Hyper Light Drifter was a 2D top-down 16-bit dungeon crawler. Though not a true sequel, the only real similarity Hyper Light Drifter has to Solar Ash is the world they share and how both are incredible games. You probably already know, but for those of you who don’t, Solar Ash is the heavily anticipated spiritual sequel to Heart Machine‘s first game Hyper Light Drifter. ![]() Here is how to defeat the Remnant of The Luminous Peak. If you need extra help in defeating Burning Hunter, you’ve come to the right place. The level itself can be hard to navigate with lava everywhere, but on top of that, you have a maniacal giant bird flying over you trying to cut your journey short. As one of the final bosses in the game, Burning Hunter in Solar Ash is no joke.
